As part of the Victorian Government’s $22.2 million Music Works industry development program, Face The Music is launching Music Passport, its new programming stream. Music Passport provides a national opportunity for a target country to connect with the Victorian music industry and deliver better relationships and networks. Over three years, Face The Music will focus on three different key markets, bringing change makers and deal breakers of each market to Melbourne. This November, Germany will be the first Music Passport focus country, with six representatives presenting at the summit bringing new connections, ideas and potentially game changing conversations to Melbourne for two days.

Germany is the #1 market in Europe and the beachhead to access the European marketplace and ranks #4 worldwide for recorded music (after UK, Japan and the USA). Many independent companies have succeeded in establishing themselves within Germany. This panel will shed some light on what is a huge and very unique landscape. Music Passport aims to increase economic opportunities for Victoria’s contemporary music industry in key regions and connect Victoria’s contemporary music sector to the global market. Minister for Creative Industries Martin Foley said Music Passport is part of a suite of programs designed to strengthen all aspects of the Victorian music industry. “Our multifaceted Music Works initiative aims to strengthen our industry at all levels – from artists and venues to labels, managers and those working behind the scenes. The Music Passport stream focuses on supporting local musicians and music businesses to forge international connections and create new opportunities. I encourage all Face the Music delegates to find out more about the program at this years conference and explore new ways to ensure your music & work; in Victoria, and right across the globe.”
