However, as more than 12,000 Melburnians discovered at the inaugural event in March, A WEEKEND In The Gardens is about more than just the incredible music – amazing as that is!

A big part of the event is about working with, and enhancing, the beautiful environment that is the Royal Botanic Gardens. In addition to enjoying outstanding music in this stunning setting, we will again be serving up delicious food and beverage options in a vastly expanded relaxing area called The Eatery.

Foodies will be tantalised with offerings from Melbourne’s most popular food trucks and operators, along with cocktails, spirits and premium beers.

And what better way to celebrate the Gardens than to use some of its native ingredients … hello Native Cocktail Bar! Wattle seeds, muntries, gum leaves, lemon myrtle and rosella shrubs will nestle next to the vodka, gin, rum and whisky for our cocktails with a botanical punch.

Melbourne bar manager and founder of Good Measure Consultants, Shaun Byrne (ex-Gin Palace, Maidenii Vermouth) has curated four very special cocktails for next month’s event.

“Following on from the success of the native cocktails at the inaugural event, I wanted to build on this and offer a few different native cocktails,” Shaun says. “I took a long stroll through the Gardens to gather inspiration points. For this event there is quite a floral theme going through the list, which is perfect given we are in the thick of spring.

“Although there are some new cocktails on offer, there is one which remains the same – the Bush Coffee. This was so successful last year, we’d potentially see a riot if we didn’t offer it again! After all, it is Melbourne!”
