Sydney-via-NYC singer and storyteller Alex the Astronaut is thrilled to today release her highly anticipated debut EP To Whom It May Concern via her label Minkowski Records. In celebration of the release, she has unveiled the brand new video to accompany her latest single ‘Rockstar City.’

The heart-warming clip for ‘Rockstar City’ follows Alex the Astronaut through the streets of New York City and Coney Island, watching as she slowly strips off the layers-upon-layers she has been wearing and hiding under. Directed and produced by Roland Ellis and Edwina Hagon who also created the clip for‘Already Home’, the duo’s concept draws parallels to the track wherein Alex sheds her shyness, embraces her vulnerability and finds the courage to be herself.

To Whom It May Concern is comprised of five different stories, each reflecting upon personal experiences, people and artists who have influenced Alex the Astronaut – from adventures in a new, big city to her profound passion for music and a particularly bad bus trip. Her folk-influenced pop tunes are slyly tailored to sound incidental, anchored by wide-eyed, train-of-thought narratives laced with wry personal insights, drawing praise from Bernard Zuel who proclaims “she can swing pop easily in Already Home and tip in some 70’s cool guitar noodling in Half of 21st Street’s I-know-Evan-Dando buoyancy, while comfortable pulling it all back to Sunday morning recovery acoustic storytelling in I believe in music.”

Alex the Astronaut played her first headline shows in Australia in January, selling out all three dates including two in Sydney. Her current acclaimed single ‘Rockstar City’ has been in high rotation on triple j, following from the widely-loved ‘Already Home’ which put Alex the Astronaut on the map as an artist to watch with national radio airplay plus an add on Beats 1’s Breaking Playlist.
