PRAISE FOR BACKYARD

“A sprinkling of the great Paul Kelly in this one in the wisdom and vocal tones,” – Declan Byrne, Triple J

“Backyard are putting their stamp on the Aussie music scene,” – The Music

“My heart actually fluttered a bit when I saw there was new music from this band. Goodness me, it’s easy on the ears.” – Dave Ruby Howe, Triple J Unearthed

“Instantly calming…I want to hear the full album right now.” – Marcus Rimondini, Ripe Music

Returning with a blissful follow up to previous single ‘Reality Television’, Backyard are today excited to share their new single ‘Royal Park’. The Melbourne quartet are also thrilled to be joining Fountaineer on tour this November, playing three dates across Melbourne and Sydney.

Royal Park’ was recorded in Melbourne by Kieran Daly and Chris Wright at Dorigo Rise and Purple Wayne, and was mixed in Los Angeles, California by Dan Horne at Lone Palm Studios, and serves up another helping of Backyard’s light and lofty suburban pop.

Talking about the track, the band explain “A new couple in a local motel and a man struggling to communicate in a foreign hospital; ‘Royal Park’ draws a parallel between these two stories by exploring the location in which they took place. With any luck, the pairing of the two will reveal that a place and its history can tie together two events decades apart.”

Comprised of Adnan Kadric (Vocals / Guitar), Thomas Barlow (Drums), Joe Daly (Bass), and Leon Andrews (Guitar / Vocals), Backyard have a penchant for creating understated tunes about life in Melbourne’s western suburbs and country Victoria. These themes have stemmed from the beauty Adnan found in Melbourne’s Western Suburbs, having found refuge there after fleeing Bosnia with his family in the early 90s.

Their previous singles ‘Best View of Dean St’ and most recently ‘Reality Television’ have received a lot of love both locally and internationally, with the band also playing to a packed out Yarra Hotel for their launch show for the latter.

Falling somewhere between Paul Kelly and Real Estate, yet maintaining a certain “scruffy” quality unique only to them, Backyard are now gearing up to grace listeners with even more of their charming suburban pop.
