After releasing his latest charismatic cut, ‘The Man Who Killed My Father’, Sydney-based electro-pop songsmith, Dead Language (Dominic Price), has just unveiled the accompanying music video – directed and edited by Rory Pearson of Varna Park.
Starring himself as the main protagonist, the video is an extravagant ode to Price’s father, who sadly passed away a few years ago after a lengthy battle with mental health issues. Just as the comprehensive lyrical content contrasts beautifully with the energetic, poppy melodies of the song, the scenes in the film bring light to a dark issue, resulting in a creative and unique expression of Price’s feelings on the situation.
Price describes the motivation behind the clip –
“The inspiration for the video was conceived by both me and the director, Rory Pearson. I’d been referred to him by a friend, and it was very clear after we first met that we were on the same page conceptually. We knew that the video was going to be dealing with some very dark themes, but this was also a video for a pop song. One night, I emailed Rory proposing that the narrative should be a disco taking place at a wake. Between then and now, we tweaked the idea, discussed composition, and shot the video in a chapel! It gave me the chance to create, with my friends, a piece of Australiana-inspired art. I’m so proud of how it turned out.”
Since the release of ‘The Man Who Killed My Father’, the track has been strongly supported by local and worldwide blogs including Happy, The Music, Gobsmag (HOL) and radio stations FBi, 4ZZZ and many more.
Price is currently preparing for the release of his debut EP ‘Like Heart’ (due 26th April), with launch shows to be announced in the coming months.
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
