Falcona & Hot Dub Time Machine present…

NYE IN THE PARK 2017

.

NYE In The Park

.

From the creative party minds behind nationally-lauded sold-out tours including Wonderland Warehouse Project and Hot Dub Wine Machine, comes an extraordinary new experience for Sydney – a premier New Years’ Eve event that’s set to blow every Sydney New Years’ event you’ve ever been to right out of the harbour.

.

There’s undeniably a collective exhaustion across the board when it comes to New Years’ in Sydney – expensive tickets, long bar lines, lacklustre entertainment and overcrowding are now unfortunately standard – with these obstacles-to-a-good-time merely compounded at harbour-side events; that are consistently plagued with hectic traffic and over-bearing tourists. This has dissuaded many music-lovers from committing to organised parties and events come New Years’, with many preferring to stay indoors. Sydney creative event aficionados Falcona and party maestro Hot Dub Time Machine sympathise greatly with this plight, and for years now have been diligently working on a brand-new vision for NYE. Their dream event will now finally come to fruition this December.

Destined to become an annual highlight, NYE in the Park is a giant garden party, which will descend on the glorious grassy fields of Victoria Park, Broadway, for the very first time, this December 31st. This exciting inaugural celebration offers a hugely fun, highly affordable, drama-free night out – with ample space to dance, more bars and toilets than you can poke a stick at, a wide selection of great gourmet food, and all at a scenic, easy-to-reach location. Most important of all, NYE in the Park is an event designed with music-lovers in mind: a carefully-curated line-up of festival-sized proportions will transform the Park into a live music utopia. NYE in the Park‘s huge spread of international and national producers, bands and DJs will perform across two stages from early afternoon until late night. Better yet, this festival-sized line-up comes without a festival-sized price-tag: making it a fantastic, inner-city alternative to an expensive weekend at a festival out-of-town. Indeed, with prices starting at only $59, it might be one of the more affordable NYE options you will come across all year – full stop.

With venue selection paramount to a fuss-free time, NYE in the Park also offers an easy-to-get-to-location – far away from the tourist trap headaches. Ideally located in Sydney’s inner-west, Victoria Park is widely accessible by public transport (Redfern Station is a five-minute walk), yet is removed from the tourist and transport pitfalls of Circular Quay. The spacious grounds of Victoria Park offer ample green acreage where revelers can spread their wings: everyone will have room to move on this al fresco dancefloor. Edged with views of the Sydney city skyline, Victoria Park’s natural scenery – ancient towering trees, lush foliage, and beautiful heritage gardens rich with local flora and fauna – will provide a jaw-dropping backdrop for the night’s performances. As day turns to night, the sunny blue skies will fill with stars – and a special fireworks show will be unveiled.

.

PURPLE SNEAKERS DJS

Legends of the Sydney indie-club scene join us at NYE in the Park with their tasteful dancefloor selections.

Last year celebrating their ten-year anniversary, Purple Sneakers is one of Australia’s most prominent and influential niche music hubs – their website is a go-to for thousands of music fans across Australia, as is their regular FBi Radio show. Purple Sneakers founder Martin Novosel, radio anchor and podcast host/DJ Caitlin Medcalf, and Nick Luke (aka electronic producer Moonbase) together make up Purple Sneakers DJs – the accomplished trio are familiar faces behind the decks at festivals and clubs across Australia; and as party-thrower-lords themselves, always know exactly the right thing to play. Whether they are writing about new music, sharing it over the airwaves of FBi, playing it in a DJ set, or giving it a live platform at the parties they throw regularly, the Purple Sneakers team are committed to imparting the work of tasteful, young artists with the world.

.

YAHTZEL

One of Australia’s electronic dance music trailblazers, this personal favourite of Diplo, Skrillex and ODESZA will let loose a sunshine-and-synth filled sensory set of infectious indie-dance in the park.

Still only in his mid-twenties, Yahtzel has for a few years now been amassing a pseudo-cult online following for his consistently top-notch productions. You might also be familiar with Yahtzel as one half of the OWSLA and Gold-Accredited (ARIA) duo Carmada (with L D R U) – the twosome are firm favourites of Diplo. Yahtzel’s brought down the house at big Australian festivals such as Listen Out, Falls Festival, and Your Paradise, and hit international stages at Holy Ship and Electric Forest, as well as having supported ODESZA on their national tour. Yahtzel brings his accomplished live set to NYE in the Park, and will be unleashing a set packed with Yahtzel dancefloor gems like Girls, High with Me, and The Only One, and remixes, like his awesome take on Peking Duk & Nicole Miller’s High. The producer comes to us well warmed-up after an Aus tour celebrating the release of his new single on ODESZA’s Foreign Family Collective – a release that has cemented his status as one of Australia’s electronic dance music trailblazers.

.

RUNNING TOUCH

Bringing together art, storytelling, ethereal electronica and dance, Running Touch’s live show is always a thrilling experience for those present.

Growing from an industry whisper to one of the most esteemed and talented about new acts to hit the Australian dance music circuit in recent times, Melbourne’s Running Touch will have plenty to celebrate this New Years’, as he wraps a 2017 that’s seen him perform to audiences across Australia on his widely acclaimed Body Touch headline tour, tour with Groovin’ the Moo, and impress abroad at SxSW.

The forward-thinking, innovative talent is part electronic producer, part novelist, part poet, part storyteller – and total artist. His project – that many first connected with via his stellar single Courtesy Of – is a seasonal, starry-eyed, sky-gazing progression into experimentalism that brings a new concept of dance music that incorporates testing, contentious tactics and an in-depth twist on reality into music. Onstage, he’s an artist that gives off an electrifying live presence – not dissimilar to that of London Grammar – his ethereal electronica and experimental indie pop tones projected out across the gorgeous gardens at NYE in the Park will be a special experience for anyone lucky enough to see it.

.

LUEN JACOBS

You’ll fast become a fan of the triple j presenter and tastemaker’s diverse dance selections and big energy as she lights up the Park.
