SAN CISCO
Way back in 2012, when Barack Obama had just been re-elected and Donald Trump was still just an orange distraction, Falls Festival hosted a little band out of Perth called San Cisco. Riding high on their smash hit ‘Awkward’ with it’s da da da da choruses and cute-as-a-button video, they were irresistible. So here we are 5 years later and guess what? We still can’t resist, only now there’s so much more. These Fremantle based critters have put together a bona-fide body of work, starting with their debut album, following through with top 10 hit ‘Gracetown’ and then consolidating this year with their fabulous third ‘The Water’. San Cisco have gone from indie darlings to pop-powerhouse right before our very eyes.

NINA LAS VEGAS
Australia’s resident tastemaker is far from just a household name. Having joined the triple j team as a teen, she’s since been championing electronic music talent onto the airwaves and spearheading Australian music into the stratosphere. Nina Agzarian aka Nina Las Vegas has become one of those key figures as an Aussie DJ and producer, with her blossoming record label NLV Records. Her live show (recently performed at Coachella!) is set to be something pretty special with a mix of magic only Nina Las Vegas can conjure.

WAAX
Packing a punch harder than your mates home made tropical disaster, Brisvegas’ WAAX set the standard when it comes to pulsating on-stage energy. Let by bottle-rocket Marie DeVita, they possess a rare blend of power and melody and are garnering a reputation as one of the hardest touring new bands on the Australian circuit. Fair dinkum – they have been absolutely mowing down shows from coast to coast of late, culminating in the recent release of a band new EP named Wild & Week. The release has only served to cement a bourgeoning rep for for snarling, catchy-as-hell punk rock. Think Siouxsie and the Banshees filtered through the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s and you’re in the car park of the ballpark.

MADDY JANE
Maddy Jane is a rising local Tasmanian artist producing an honest, indie/pop/rock stream of music. With relatable lyrics, curious, ironic ideas and catchy hooks pulled from an Australian music background, you’ll hear influences such as Paul Kelly, Little Birdy and Courtney Barnett in her style, with a modern and original take and a lot of soul. Her latest single ‘No Other Way’ is made for the live stage “Maddy Jane writes songs that we immediately want to sing along to. THE TESKEY BROTHERS
An overnight success 10 years in the making, Melbourne’s Teskey Brothers ride high with a heady mixture of soul, blues, rock and one of the most unmistakable gorgeous male voices heard this side of the Tasman Sea. Having plied their trade for near on a decade in the pubs and clubs of Australia’s music capital, Josh and Sam Teskey (accompanied by bassist Brendon Love and drummer Liam Gough) managed to crystallise their sound, launching their new album Half Mile Harvest in March this year and riding a slow burn of acclaim that eventually set ablaze. Next thing, The Teskey Brothers were selling out huge venues many times over and seriously, as soon as Josh starts to sing, you’ll know exactly why.

PRESS CLUB
Sometimes kids look like their parents. Sometimes dogs look like their owners. Sometimes bands sound like their suburbs. Press Club sound like Brunswick. Sprawling out North of the CBD, Brunswick is a heady mix of hipsters, Nonnas, grime and glitz. Covered in graffiti, it is Melbourne’s past and future intertwined. Press Club reside and came together in Brunswick and their jagged, pulsing punk rock sounds as if it was forged directly out of the chaos of Sydney Road. Bike lanes, trams, pedestrians, break-neck drums, shredding guitars and the studied yelp of Natalie Foster – Press Club’s singer and new star on the horizon. “I’ll bring my A game” – she yells on debut single ‘Headwreck’ – we don’t doubt it.
