SUPPORT FOR DEBUT SINGLE ‘COOL’

“The rich talent behind the track goes some way to explaining how fully formed this project already feels, but really it’s the energetic, engaging, and hilarious frontwoman that has us all the way on board.” – Pilerats (AUS)

“Strong grunge aesthetics with pop hooks! A solid first track from this Sydney shredder.”
Nick Findlay – triple j (AUS)

After releasing their standout debut single ‘Cool’, Sydney-based indie rock quintet, Georgia June, return with new cut ‘Broke’ – recorded at New York’s Diamond City Studios.

‘Broke’ is instantly impressionable, bursting open with infectious guitar riffs and battering drums. The track retains an exhilarating energy throughout, complimented by front woman Georgia’s emotionally-charged vocals. Combining these elements with honest, relatable lyrics, she channels the sound of past and present indie songstresses Blondie and Alex Lahey.

Georgia describes the inspiration behind the track –

“I feel as though the song really speaks for itself in this one, it was written when I literally had no money, wandering aimlessly around New York, and I just wrote it as a joke on how broke I was. It was comical, I remember going in stores and trying things on and not being able to afford it, but still wanting it and telling my rents I was fine because I was in denial. It’s a song which I feel a lot of people can relate to at some point and just laugh about it”.

Debut single ‘Cool’ released last month made waves among local tastemakers, garnering support from Spotify, triple j Unearthed, Rolling Stone Australia and Pilerats. The track achieved rotation and spot play on FBi, SYN, 3RRR and 4ZZZ, leading to a #2 rank on the AMRAP metro charts.

Georgia June have also kept a busy live schedule amongst releasing new music, recently performing to a capacity crowd at Brighton Up Bar and supporting buzz acts Le Pie and Sloan Peterson. This week, the quintet will support Melbourne-based songsmith Wesley Fuller at his Sydney album launch. To celebrate the release of ‘Broke’ Georgia June will launch the single at Marrickville’s Red Rattler on Friday November 10th.

The accompanying video for ‘Broke’ will be released in the coming weeks.

‘Broke’ will be released independently on Friday October 27th, available worldwide via Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes and all other good digital retailers.
