“REFLECT”

GL have premiered new track “Reflect”, the second half of their double-A-sided single Destiny/Reflect (available now). Locking themselves away in the studio after a very busy summer at St Jerome’s Laneway Festival, Splore Festival (NZ), Paradise Music Festival + The Plot, GL will be returning to the live front with two very special shows in Sydney & Melbourne.

“Reflect” – say GL – is an extended jam we made at TFS studio in North Fitzroy, Melbourne. We wanted to try a long form exploration piece. Listen out for the delightful keyboard solo by Harvey Sutherland! Lyrically it’s about searching inward, when the outside gets a bit much.‘” The results, together with fellow new track “Destiny”, suggest another distinct step forward for GL, a restlessly creative, crate-digging duo whose debut album – the critically-acclaimed Touch – was only released in August 2016.

GL are Melbourne duo Ella Thompson and Graeme Pogson, who together create a thrilling contemporary spin on classic disco, funk, boogie, soul and electronic pop. From 2013’s Love Hexagon EP to acclaimed debut album Touch, the band have earned international recognition from the likes of The Guardiani-DThe FaderV MagazineXLR8R and many more. Back home, they played a sold-out Australian tour off the back of their debut album, and have just announced Destiny/Reflect” launches at two of Sydney & Melbourne’s most iconic venues. Handpicked to support Chet Faker on his biggest national headline tour yet, GL have won over crowds with sets at leading Australian festivals St Jerome’s Laneway Festival and Falls Festival.  At once ebullient, melancholic, amorous, sweet, tempestuous, sexy, nocturnal, heartbroken and carefree, GL’s songwriting never loses site of being consistently inviting, stylish and danceable. “Reflect” and “Destiny” epitomise these unique talents, pushing GL towards an even brighter future.
