With her luscious red locks, stirring lyrics and saccharine voice, indie darling HEN delivers us her debut single and video ‘RAINCOATS’.
A new sound for Hen who previously wrote and performed under the moniker and her actual mum given name ‘Julia Henning’ and to great success. Not only did Henning amass rave reviews, “Julia’s voice is powerful and her control over it will touch all your emotion places” Hungry Canary, the young artist saw success on both stage and screen. Claiming the coveted #1 spot on the Triple J Unearthed charts on numerous occasions, performed to packed audiences at the Sydney Opera House and WOMADelaide and her single ‘If And Only If’ featured on channel tens hit show Offspring.
The time had come for Hen to dive into her fresh new sound. The modern day poet has delivered a deep, lyrically charged single, bearing all through her craft.

“Raincoats was written as some kind of spring cleaning for my view on the world. I just wanted to chase all those preconceived notions out so that I could know myself again. The Raincoats I’m referring to are my instincts, the ones that should protect me but were so confused by all the baggage from my past”. – HEN

Delving deeper with the Wes Anderson inspired film clip, Hen visually explores the cruelty humans inflict upon themselves in the form of guilt and self deprecation and how in turn the human spirit can overcome these challenges. “The video is built out of a lot of layers. I’m not even sure I’ll ever realise all of them. The first one is that the tree is a physical expression of myself. It’s that strength that you somehow find right at the bottom of your barrel when you think all strength is gone. It’s that sense of self that cannot be shaken or altered and when everything else is gone, or broken, it’s still there, keeping you going”.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
