Hockey Dad have sold out their 14 date national tour, and hit the ARIA charts as the #1 Australian album for the week and #6 on the overall charts with their highly anticipated second album, Blend InnTheir highest chart debut to date also sees them become one of the few bands from the Wollongong region to crack the top 10, matching Tumbleweed‘s sophomore album Galactaphonic which peaked at the same position in 1995. The humble duo from Windang have also announced a UK/European tour, and immediately sold out their headline London show at the Lexington. Full UK/European dates here.

The news follows an impressive start to 2018, with the band taking out #54 in triple j’s Hottest 100 via lead album single ‘Homely Feeling’. They also recently went on a road trip along Australia’s east coast, playing to packed out indie record stores in a custom-painted van, meeting and charming huge crowds of old and new mates at each stop.

After selling out all initial dates within 24 hours, and adding extra shows, the final tour run will see Hockey Dad play to packed out rooms at the Metro Theatre twice in Sydney as well as a staggering four shows in Melbourne’s The Corner Hotel and four at The Woolly Mammoth in Brisbane, plus two shows in each The Gov, Adelaide and Badlands, Perth. With supports Boat Show and Dear Seattle in tow, band rooms across the country will be the first to experienceBlend Inn live, as it’s brought to life by the charged riffs, anthemic vocals and punk style drums of best mates Zach Stephenson and Billy Fleming.

Recorded in Seattle with renowned audio engineer and producer John Goodmanson (Bikini Kill,Sleater-Kinney, Cloud Nothings, Death Cab for Cutie) Blend Inn is Hockey Dad’s boldest output to date, a natural progression for the two as they face the tribulations of young adulthood, a theme reflected across the record. ‘Homely Feeling’ is an ode to their roots, ‘Join The Club‘ relays the struggle for self-identity in the face of societal expectation, whilst ‘I Wanna Be Everybody‘ emerges as the infectious and surprisingly vulnerable pop-rock song that Summer was missing, set to have crowds united in a chorus of “I wanna be everybody, everybody / I just can’t be everybody, everybody”.
