Releases ‘Need Nobody’

Luke August

LUKE AUGUST will release “Need Nobody” his latest single, this coming March. This track will be released following on from his relocation to Melbourne City, from Perth, WA. “Need Nobody” worked with Grammy Award winning mastering engineer William Bowden (Gotye, Bluejuice, Paul Dempsey).

A contrast to his previous tracks, “Refugee” and “One Heart”, “Need Nobody” is a story of independence and acknowledging your inner strength to empower yourself. August says the opening line, “First you get drunk, then you get love”, a concept born in a moment of solitude and stillness, is a notion that most can relate to. August extracted his own emotions that gravitate around the opening line and infused the raw sentiment into the vibe of “Need Nobody”.

Originally penned as an acoustic demo for a publishing company,  August identified “Need Nobody” deserved a better quality recording and immersed himself in the re-working of what is now the final product. There is an underlying tint of darkness throughout the song, which was infused during the re-write of the track. August says this was somewhat influenced from The XX song, ‘Angels’,

Luke August undertook the tracking for the new sound of “Need Nobody” and after two mixes with separate engineers, the song still didn’t sit right. Deflated and unsure of what to do next, August couldn’t shake his intuition which eventually lead the motivation behind his relocation to Melbourne. It was in Melbourne that August re-worked the entire mix himself at Melbourne’s Tender Trap Studios.
