& more to play in local music celebrity soccer match for charity
A favourite event on the annual social calendar for many in the music industry, charity 5-a-side football tournament for the music industry, Musica Copa, is gearing up for their big 2017 match, this Friday in Sydney’s inner West.
This year the event – which sees members of the music industry, and leading musicians, pull on soccer jerseys and raise money for charity – will celebrate its fifth anniversary, during which time it has raised a whopping $40,000 for charities. This year, Musica Copa has introduced 2 divisions for the first time, and an improved open mixed team format to encourage even more female players this year.
Having already unveiled the 21 legendary music crews that will skip off Friday arvo in the office to hit the field for a good cause (including new teams Spotify, Nike All Stars, Of Leisure and Inertia Music – full team list see HERE), today Musica Copa unveils some of its star players including members of Flight Facilities, Bag Raiders Gang of Youths and World Champion alongside the likes of Young Franco, Montaigne and Alex The Astronaut.
This year’s Musica Copa will be hosted by triple j House Party legend KLP, and producer-of-the-moment Mickey Kojak – keeping us informed on the day. Everyone’s favourite community station FBi Radio will once again supply the soundtrack to the day featuring Mowgli May, Sandro Dallarmi, Holly O’Neil, CKDJ, Isa b2b Tasker and Lachie Wyllie.
Each team will be playing to raise money for some wonderful charities – this years nominated for donations are Asylum Seekers Resource Centre, Beyond Blue, Challenge, Fem Found, Heaps Decent, The Girls Refuge, The Kids Cancer Project, Minus18, Musicians Making a Difference, Reach Foundation, Sony Foundation, Support Act, Wesley Mission and Youth Off the Streets.
In the Player’s Bar, Tito’s Vodka and Heineken will be keeping everyone refreshed with delicious beverages, with Mary’s on gourmet burger duties. Once the victors have claimed their trophy, the post-match celebrations will continue at Sydney Portuguese Community Club, a stone’s throw from the game (keep an eye on Musica Copa’s socials for line-up details).
Entry for spectators is $10, with all proceeds going to charity. Music industry or otherwise, one and all are encouraged to come down for what’s shaping up to be a brilliant day of Music, Sport and Charity.
