Singles Chartifacts: 

#1: Ed Sheeran ‘Perfect’ – It’s week four at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart for Ed Sheeran’s ‘Perfect’. Sheeran has released two new versions of the multi-platinum single, first teaming up with Beyoncé and recently re-recording the song with Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, with Bocelli re-writing verses two and three and a chorus, along with translating Ed’s lyrics into Italian.  

#6: Mariah Carey ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ – Jumping four spots to land in the top ten for the first time this year, Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ has returned to the top ten for a seventh week since its release in 1994. This now marks the highest peak for the track in 23 years, after originally peaking at #2.

#11: Wham ‘Last Christmas’ – One year on from the untimely death of legendary British singer/songwriter George Michael, Wham’s ‘Last Christmas’ has clocked up its 15th week in top 20 landing at #11 this week. The single makes a jump of 26 spots to land just outside the top 10.

Albums Chartifacts:

#1: Ed Sheeran ‘÷’ – British singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran has strengthened his hold upon the charts this week, leaping from #3 to claim his 22nd week at #1. Sheeran finds himself atop both Singles and Albums chart once again, after claiming back his tightly held position from Eminem last week.

#8: Soundtrack ‘The Greatest Showman’ (debut) – Debuting this week is the Soundtrack to the highly anticipated film ‘The Greatest Showman’. The soundtrack features songs performed by Actors Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Keala Settl & Zendaya amongst others.  The music is written by the Academy Award winning songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, known for their work on ‘La La Land’ and ‘Dear Evan Hansen’.

#10: Paul Kelly ‘Life Is Fine’ – Working his way back into the top ten from #11 last week, Australian icon Paul Kelly ends the year on a high with ‘Life Is Fine. The gold-certified album appears in the top ten for the 10th time since its release in late August when it debuted at #1. ‘Life is Fine’ earned Kelly the gong for Best Male Artist and Best Adult Contemporary Album at the 31st Annual ARIA Awards in November.
