All Time Low @ The Hordern Pavilion, Sydney 13/05/2017 (Live Review)

The atmosphere was wildly alive in true pop-punk fashion on Saturday night, as people young and old crowded into The Hordern Pavilion to see American rocking four piece All Time Low light up the stage! Playing their biggest headline tour down under to date, the show was near capacity, anxiously waiting for the boys from Maryland, Baltimore to make their two year long return to Australia official.

Pumping up punters, first up was American alt-rockers The Maine from Arizona. It too has been a little while since The Maine have been down under but they didn’t disappoint fans, playing a string of hits including Girls Do What They Want and tracks from their new album Lovely Little Lonely, Bad Behaviour and Black Butterflies and Déjà Vu. They had fans on their feet dancing and singing like there’s no tomorrow!

Next up was the lively pop-punk piece Neck Deep, all the way from the UK. Despite the band only being five years old, nearly every single person in the venue was singing along to their songs and moshing their heart out. I’m sure the band gained a few more fans as their set went on, tearing up the stage with a collection of well-known tracks including Losing Teeth, Crushing Grief (No Remedy), Kali Ma and December; while announcing the awesome news of a new album release coming soon! Fans came out of the pit with massive smiles on their faces and drenched in heavenly Neck Deep infused sweat.

With the crowd chanting their name, All Time Low made their long-awaited return to the Sydney stage in magnificent form! 18 track set list was everything an All Time Low fan, old and new, could want and more – playing a collection of songs from their back catalogue and a few from their new, upcoming album Last Young Renegade due for release on June 2!

All Time Low, as always know how to work a crowd; getting each and every punter on their feet jumping around, singing along and dancing for the entire set. The ever dirty mind of lead guitarist Jack Barakat, with the help of his friend and lead vocalist Alex Gaskarth had fans in stitches in between songs, knowing all too well the banter and conversation of the stage from previous shows. Parents, I hope you blocked your ears!

I’ve seen All Time Low play a few times now, in intimate venues and in festival slots and all I can say is if you missed out on seeing them this time around… You missed out big time! This was THE best All Time Low show I have been to and many fans left with the same feeling. From being a part of the So Wrong, It’s Right and Nothing Personal era I have watched All Time Low grow out of the Pop-Punk constraints and present themselves as a band who have and know no limits, writing and recording what they want in a collection of different genres that really just work for them. With a huge lighting production and a bigger stage to work their magic on, All Time Low had fans in the Hordern captivated from start to end!

What a night to remember! Welcome back to Australia, All Time Low. We missed you.
