The McClymonts are acknowledged as Australia’s #1 Country Group and throughout their ten-year career they have released four studio albums which have achieved 2 x Gold Sales Accreditations, 10 x Golden Guitar Awards, 2 x ARIA Awards, an APRA Award and a CMA (Country Music Association U.S) Award for Global Artist of the Year. They have released twenty hit singles and toured extensively throughout Australia and the U.S. They are Ambassadors of Toyota Australia and charity organisations the McGrath Foundation and Legacy Australia.

How would you describe your journey in the music industry so far, and where do you want to go from here with your music?

It’s been very organic, it just naturally fell into place. That isn’t too say there hasn’t been a lot of hard work and planning along the way! However it started off from just our love of singing, to the  joining of a local country music club, competing in talent quests to eventually signing a record deal and recording and touring. We still want to continue to tour Australia extensively as there are still a lot of places we need to see and play! We also hope to reach more audiences and hopefully our music can connect with new listeners.

When did you know you wanted to make music, and perform as your career?

Growing up we didn’t know that people actually did it for a living, we just knew we loved to sing and play. It wasn’t until we were nearing the end of high school and realised we could do it full time. There was no stopping us then.

Who have been your musical influences or artists you have admired growing up?

So many! Dolly Parton, Shania Twain,The Judds, Dixie Chicks, The Eagles, Trisha Yearwood,Faith Hill, we could go on and on.

Are there any artists or musicians that you have been so impacted by that it changed your view on life or mentality toward music?

Troy Casser-Daley also came from our hometown of Grafton so that was pretty inspiring.

How would you describe your sound, and why is it unique from other artist’s sound?

You can hear our love of modern country in our music however with the sibling harmony it keeps that real country flavour also. We write all of our own songs so it is all about being honest and hoping that the stories can relate to what our fans are also going through. We hope our uniqueness comes from our family sound and hey no two families are the same!

What are your goals for 2018 with your music career after winning at The Golden Guitars?

To write and record a whole new record. Mollie is having another bub in April,so once she feels ready to get back into it we will jump right in and start getting creative.

You’ve played at some pretty massive events the last year, what performance was the most surreal for you and why?

It was great to get up to parts of northern WA we had never been before and see such beautiful parts of the country that are so untouched and just take your breath away.

If you weren’t working in the music industry, what else do you think you would be doing with your life right now?

I would have gone to university and eventually found something else I liked as much as music. Might have taken me awhile though.

What’s one song fans might be surprised you really like?

I love anything from the Swedish artist, Robyn.

.

Lastly, just for fun – if you had to listen to one song on repeat the rest of your life what song and why?

That’s just mean! haha there are way too many songs i just can’t.

What can fans expect from your set this year at Groundwater, and what have your experiences there been like in the past? 

We now have 5 albums of songs to choose from so they can expect songs we released from the very start up until now. We love to have fun on stage and we want people to see that and feel that and get them in a good mood.

We have played the festival before and to look out to a huge country crowd right in the heart of the Gold Coast is pretty amazing and we can’t wait to kick it up again with everyone in July.
