Art Block, an alt-folk indie singer songwriter from East London is back with a brand new single. With inspiration drawn from the likes of Thom Yorke, Jeff Buckley and Joy Division  comes the ethereal Eliza’ (officially released on 14 February). It is the first single from the EP of the same name and follows on from his Los Feliz debut EP.

Art Block is known for putting a lot of thought into his lyrics and ‘Eliza’ is no different. The undercurrent of melodically distorted piano keys is the perfect companion to the sweet, yet haunting vocal delivery from the London native. ‘Eliza’ seems to tell the story of the breakdown of a long distance relationship. Whilst this is an emotionally charged theme and subsequent song from Art Block, it is very simple song but also very powerful. Meanwhile, the instrumental solo toward the end of the track is highly emotive as well and very much akin to the story being told.

There is no mistaking that Art Block is a thoughtful singer songwriter. His songs have a strong story and in the case of ‘Eliza’, one that takes your breath away. The sorrowful track demonstrates that Art Block continues to go from strength to strength with the music he chooses to release. If ‘Eliza’ is anything to go by, the forthcoming EP will be another triumph of musical proportions.
