Brandon Poletti- Waiting To Be Found (Single Review)

Australia truly is a land abounding in nature’s gifts. How do we know this? We are brimming with young and free indie songwriters, unshackled by the figure-driven greed of mass media and doing precisely what music is meant to do— sing true. One such songwriter is Brandon Poletti, a Perth-based performer whose new single, Waiting To Be Found, is a breath of fresh, unpretentious, musical air.

“But the shore hasn’t moved since you left/and my heart is filled with regret”

Poletti makes no play at eccentricity with this track— the arrangement is a tempered mix of acoustic and clean electric guitar lines set against an unobtrusive beat in the chorus. Water droplets, tinkly piano riffs and plucked orchestral strings lines connect the music to its beachy lyrics. Poletti’s Perth shores shine here, the setting for a frank and real sentiment not overwrought or overwritten, but simply plaintive and patient.

For all its careful mixing and engineering, the studio version of Waiting To Be Found shines in Poletti’s vocals and guitar, a combination best experienced live. For those fortunate enough to live around Perth, the single will launch at the Civic Hotel on March 24.
