Norwegian producer Cashmere Cat has treated Australia with a nation-wide tour to celebrate the release of his first full-length album. The highly anticipated album ‘9’ is currently being showcased across a number of Australia’s capital cities. Known for his signature blend of abstract and electronica, the DJ/producer treated our ears at Sydney’s Metro Theater.

By his side, Sydney’s own DJ/Producer Nina Las Vegas, coming off the back of her shows ‘NLV Records Parties’, the pair are truly iconic together. As a long time fan of Nina Las Vegas and her record company, NLV Records, I was shown the light that was Cashmere Cat. Although he’s not new to the scene, with a history of producing tracks with the likes of Ariana Grande, 2 Chainz, Torey Lanez and Kanye West, I have been waiting to hear his own album for some time (it came out in April 2017). As you can expect, seeing this set live was another level.

Despite his usual shy demeanor, the Norwegian Producer, played to a very packed out crowd. Peak of the set ‘9 (After Coachella)’ which features Danish singer voices the true story of how Høiberg met, and lost, a girl at Coachella, while UK producer Sophie adds his trademark slippery clanking. Personal favourite and highlight for me was his classic, “With Me”. For those of you who haven’t heard it, jump on it here. You can expect a mix of both wistful and hard-hitting atmospheres, broken up with some blocky percussion interspersed between pitched vocal samples and twinking bells.

EDM royalty Nina Las Vegas. This year she released under her own record label ‘Freeze’ and ‘Deserts’, coming off the back of EP dropped in 2016 ‘EZY or Never’. Known for her passion behind ‘Keep Sydney Open’ campaign, as you can expect, she blasted a set that reminded you that Sydney’s culture sure ain’t dead. Highlights of her set included ‘EZY’, Contagious (ft Snappy Jit), and her remix of Swick and Spank Rock’s ‘Polo Love’.

Safe to say my ongoing girl crush on this gal has heightened to a new level. If you haven’t already got yourself along to one of her shows (she’s a Sydney local, so she’s here every so often when she’s not doing Australia proud on the international circuit), do your ears a favour and get yourself there (you can thank me later).
