Who’s ready for the perfect trifecta?

Recording producing superstars Cashmere Cat and Major Lazer have teamed up to collaborate with uprising R&B rapper Tory Lanez for their fresh new single Miss You. Tory Lanez rose to fame with his first official single release Say It in 2015 followed by Grammy nominated track Luv in 2016 which both featured on his debut album release I Told You in 2016. Since hitting huge success through the last few years, his second album Memories Don’t Die is set for a 2018 release. Mastermind DJ Cashmere Cat hit huge success in 2017 with his debut album release 9 collaborating with the likes of Selena Gomez, The Weeknd, Ariana Grande and Camila Cabello. Power group Major Lazer have been continuously firing up the dance charts with worldwide hits such as Lean On featuring MØ and Cold Water featuring Justin Bieber.

When I first listened to the track I could instantly feel that Cashmere Cat vibe that tends to follow through all his releases. The instrumental is extremely subtle and has a progressive build up within the chorus that leads to that renowned Major Lazer drop. The simplicity of the tempo along with its soft use of dance beats shares similarities with Cashmere Cat’s 2017 track Love Incredible featuring Camila Cabello as the structure and production feels almost as an upgrade to 2018. These kinds of sounds work wonders with vocals such as Tory Lanez as the distinct tone of his voice, as well as Camila Cabello’s in previous work, are almost as if their made perfectly the match the artists vocal ability and range.

The lyrics of the track touch on themes of love and regret. Tory Lanez sings about how he’s coping with missing his lover and how he regrets the mistakes he’s made in the past. He changes his ways throughout the track as he understands he’s under appreciated his lover and that he’s willing to change. The artist’s vocals work a miracle with this track as his soothing tones almost melt throughout your ears. Think if Drake and The Weeknd had a son, Tory Lanez would most definitely be their creation. Although his vocals can come across as quite demure, the singer’s range blends flawlessly with the music production of Cashmere Cat and Major Lazer.

As Cashmere Cat and Tory Lanez have effortlessly collaborated numerous times in the past, there was no denying that the addition of Major Lazer was going to make their ball game a whole new level. The lucidness of both the producers’ collaboration along with the tropical tones of Tory Lanez gives 2018 that extra push it needs to get a new era of dance music happening. It’s a perfect track to blast in your car as you cruise around through the warm Australian summer nights. If this is the just the beginning of 2018 for these three music acts, who knows what future magic may occur as we head into the new year.
