Digitalism, the German duo from Hamburg, are back with Holograms – the first offering from their soon to be released EP Zdar Clu6, and what a little tasty morsel it is.

It’s a transcendental track evolving from their love of french electro house and the cinematic to the heavy synthesised soundscape of vaporwave that demands to be listened on headphones and with eyes closed. Think Luke Million, the Stranger Things series and everything 80s including a hooky little chorus.

In spite of the homage, it separates itself from being an carbon aesthetic imitator to sound, with its clean production, something new and current. Their last album 2016’s Mirage had an anxious urgency bubbling underneath most of tracks, which makes Holograms such an intriguing surprise. This new song unfurls at an assured pace as it invites the listener on a journey.
