Fatboy Slim’s newest EP release titled ‘Fatboy Slim VS Australia’, features seven Australian artists putting their own spin on these popular and very well appreciated tracks. A tribute album is always going to be a hit, and I quite enjoyed this record. The tracks are very familiar to me, as DJ myself I regularly play them as they will always be essential crowd pleasers to any set, so having these talented Australian producers put their own spin on them is awesome. The EP showcases a collection of genres that compasses some of Australia’s best talent in dance music.

With dance music being noticed and praised in most recent years in Australia, a record like this is the best way to showcase Aussie talent in production. Winners for me were Set Mo’s take on ‘Weapon of Choice’ and LO’99 edit of ‘Star 69’. Most artist’s remained true to their own signature sound which was great however it means boundaries could’ve been pushed.

‘Fatboy Slim VS Australia’ has a great variety of sounds and an example of that is ‘Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat’ re worked by Northlane. A track like this was so unexpected yet remains a strong asset to the album. The Kite String Tangle created an awesome bootleg for ‘Praise You’, one of the most popular and influential tracks of this generation.

‘Fatboy Slim VS Australia’ is an awesome combination of classics with a twist of modern accomplishment in production in dance music. An A+ tribute EP with a range of talented Australian artists and quality tunes.
