When it was announced Foster The People were making their way down under, I had my fingers crossed a sideshow would take place. The indie-rock band graced the Enmore Theatre with an incredible performance on Friday night that had me feeling quite emotional. Frontman Mark Foster, dressed in a shiny sequined shirt was unstoppable, from his funky dance moves to his unique voice, he had the crowd grooving from start to finish.

If I’m going, to be honest, I wasn’t too familiar with the bands newest album Sacred Hearts Club, it took me by surprise how different their sound has evolved, however, they still have a very distinct vibe. Their new music is so well fitted for a live set due to the many different uses of instruments and electronic bass lines. Friday night proved that Foster The People aren’t just “one song”, that is Pumped Up Kicks. Playing a handful from their album Torches (my favourite), the crowd cheered as tracks like Houdini, Call It What You Want, Don’t Stop (Color On The Walls) were played. Something that took me by surprise was when they covered Ramones’ “Blitzkrieg Bop”. It changed the mood and created much excitement for the crowd to hear a familiar track covered by their favourite band.

The Californian band members are so talented. I was very impressed with each member’s ability to have the stage come to life. Mark Foster and his band are true musicians who have mastered their craft over the years, and I truly felt blessed to be in their presence.
