Escape the big smoke and come un-wine-d with Hot Dub and his carefully curated collection of artists – food, wine, and merry-making in the spirit of a traditional European get-together in the grapevines. We chianti think of a better way to spend a sunshine-soaked, late summers’ day!” – (Hot Dub Wine Machine, 2018).

Festivalgoers couldn’t have asked for a better day to sip on a few beverages among friends as the festivities kicked off in fine fashion with great weather and energy to boot!
The incredible Canungra Valley, QLD was the host of this leg of the festival featuring a sprawling open layout at the state’s #1 winery: O’Reilly’s Vineyard. Complete with everything dancers to barbershop stands for that last-minute trim, it catered to every demographic with its eclectic variety of entertainment.
And with a fancy Australian winery, came a lot of very nicely dressed young Aussies. The fashion felt more like being at the Melbourne cup than your typical music festival, but it made the atmosphere feel a little more mature even with a younger crowd.

Led by the nostalgia merchant himself, Hot Dub Time Machine the day was a feast for the ears. Wine Machine was founded by Hot Dub and Falcona and now the crew bring us Hot Dub Wine Machine, a touring line up of Australia’s leading bands and DJs performing on custom-built stages amongst the grapevines across wine regions in Australia.
And the bill was full of big name banger makers like Tom Tilley, The Kite String Tangle, and Falcona DJs to name a few.
Hot Dub Wine Machine was a mixed line-up of DJs and bands. The wine soaked festival attracted what looked like a mainly 20-something crowd who were lapping up the DJs and lining up for drinks in the blazing sun. There were trees around for shade and plenty of areas to sit which made the day bearable between sets out in the QLD humidity.

Luke Million created an atmosphere like an underground club that had the moshpit dancing their hearts out before the sun came down. He opened with the well-known hit ARNOLD and closed his set with his newest release Alive and between included one of my faves Come Together.
One of my favourite artists currently is The Kite String Tangle and his euphoric set was no disappointment. Knowing that Danny Harley (TKST) hailed from being in a band called Pigeons it is incredible to see him perform as a solo act for the first time with my own eyes. He looked completely in his element centre-stage mixing his beats to the largest crowd I had seen all day. He played some of his older hits like Given The Chance and Arcadia which got an amazing reception with most of the crowd singing along. And the end of his set included his new release bangers, which I absolutely love, such as This Thing We Got and The Prize.
I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from Hot Dub Wine Machine but it was well worth the trip out of Brisbane. A full day of raving, picturesque views from within award-winning wine fields and making a whole bunch of friends who love wine and music are all reasons to make sure you catch the Hot Dub Wine Machine Festival during one of the upcoming legs.
