In Stereo have been capturing the hearts of Australia’s teen girl population since their audition on X-Factor in 2015, since then they have gone on to release 3 EP’s – all achieving a place in the Top 15 on the Aria Charts- 5 national tours and with currently 1.3 million views across their Youtube channel, the boys are back in Queensland for a one off performance at Cully Fest.
Even with a constant downpour there was nothing that could’ve stopped Jakob, Ethan & Chris from putting on a show for their die hard fans. Running 15 minutes late after moving from the outdoor main stage – the rain turning it in to a safety hazard – to a dry and warm indoor setting, In Stereo kicked off their 14 track setlist with a rocky start.
With nowhere near enough time to move all the speakers and equipment to the new stage, the boys had to make do with what they could, which left them with a few technical difficulties – a lack of bass and vocals constantly fading in and out were extremely noticeable during their first song Girlfriend which sadly continued through the majority of their performance. That being said the boys handled the whole situation remarkably well with their natural charisma and managed to laugh through the whole ordeal – literally, Ethan laughed till he was in tears.
Handling the technical difficulties with nothing but professionalism, the boys powered through their set. Deciding it was best to finish the show acoustically; Never Felt This Good, Don’t Wanna Go Home & Bad For Me were the highlights of their performance. Despite this being the first time any of these songs had been played acoustically live, it allowed the boys to showcase their vocals and Chris‘ guitar playing.
Being a massive In Stereo fan myself, this is not how their live shows usually play out. The unexpected rain really put the event in a tight situation and it was dealt with the best it could have been. Even with all the difficulties throughout, In Stereo certainly put on a show to never forget.
