Interview with Marvin Green of FROM LAMBS TO LIONS

Upstate New York is home to post hardcore/metalcore quartet, From Lambs To Lions – a band that is equipped to convey a positive message in a way that both the young and young-at-heart can relate to. Just three years ago, the foursome filmed their debut music video for their track Grab Your Jacket, We’re Braving The Storm and within the space of two months; the video had reached 100,000 views and was shared on a multiplicity of social media platforms. Since then, they have continued on a steady rate of success in all facets of their career to date. From Lambs To Lions’ drummer Marvin Green recently had a chat with AMNplify – check it out below!

How and when did the band form?

Marvin Green (drums) and Ryan McManus (vocals) actually met on Craigslist when looking for other musicians. Shortly after, Colin McManus (bass) joined. Lee Fenstamaker (guitar) didn’t start until a year or so later.

Who or what inspired you to pursue a career in music?

When we first saw School of Rock, it made us want to pursue music. Also, the Vans Warped Tour because it just looked so surreal and so fun to be having a summer full of that along with a lot of many other friends and influences.

Can you describe From Lambs To Lions in one sentence?

Passionate, aesthetic and pissed off.

Who are your main musical influences?

Guns N Roses first and foremost. We’re inspired by Cameron Mizell a lot also. Asking Alexandria, Crown the Empire, Motionless In White, Memphis May Fire and Blessthefall.

What can you reveal about the upcoming new album, Discord?

The songs still have the same From Lambs To Lions (FLTL) vibe, but with a creepier, cinematic vibe.

What inspires your song writing?

Moods, feelings and life.

What makes From Lambs To Lions different to similar sounding bands?

Our hearts are in the right place. A lot of bands these days are all about image or money and what they can get out of fans, but our only goal is to share our music with the world.

What has been your most memorable career highlight to date?

Playing the main stage at the Vans Warped Tour in 2016. We’ve seen a lot of our favourite artists play there, so getting to play there was pretty surreal.

What is something you would like to achieve career-wise that you haven’t done yet?

We would love to tour in Japan one day.

If you could play any venue in the world, where would it be and why?

We would want to play either the Troubadour or Whiskey Go Go, both in Los Angeles or the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado would be insane too, due to the fantastic views the venue has to offer!
