American pop-rap duo Jack & Jack have reinvented themselves and slid back onto the music scene with their new track Beg. After becoming extremely successful through social media app Vine, the duo turned their success into a music career. With previous hit EP’s Calibraska and Gone, as well as popular singles Wild Life and Like That, the boys have completely ditched their young boy image and are back with a bang.

I almost didn’t recognise their voices on their new track Beg. The melody and production of the song reflects their experimental phase with their EP Gone earlier this year. The beat is something you’d expect for a Justin Bieber song and I’m living for it. It stays super mellow throughout the whole track and really gives them an opportunity to showcase their vocals. The use of a wavy beat and simple finger clicks gives the duo a fresh, mature new sound.

The lyrics of this track are quite simple yet effective. The play on words reflect on themes of love, passion and obsession. The boys sing about a lover they’re infatuated with regardless how many times they keep getting played. The know that their lovers have control of the relationship and no matter how many times they get used and abused, they’ll still come running back. Although the lyrics are quite cliché, the duo add their own spin to the track through the harmonious tone of their vocals that will have the words stuck to your brain in no time.

Beg is a soft and enjoyable listen that captures the reality of many relationships in a few words. It’s almost as if Zayn and Justin Bieber collated their voices and made a power track. The vibe of the track is completely chill and the smooth vocals work perfectly in the duo’s favour to create their new sound. Although the boys haven’t really hit the big time down under yet, I have a good feeling about their new change and I think Australia might have a new summer jam on the horizon. Give this track a listen down below, you definitely won’t be disappointed.
