It was a cold winters night down in Sydney, as eager Jon Stevens, Kate Ceberano and Phil Ceberano fans flooded the streets of Newtown as they waited outside The Enmore Theatre for the doors to open at 7pm. With the first round of acts to kick off at 8pm the initial atmosphere within The Enmore Theatre was buzzing as it was a wine and champagne sipping feel good family night out and a well deserved girls night out. Where the young and old coming together to celebrate great true blue Australian Music. Whilst the audience patiently waited for the acts to start excitement filled the room, as you could hear audience members laughter and discussion fill the room whilst they rabbled around in order to find their seats. Once everyone was seated it was about 8pm and it was time get this show on the road.

The first act to kick off the night was The Phil Ceberano Band, as they stepped on stage the audiences excitement level escalated as the band tore up the stage and left audience members stunned with their jaw dropping drum solo’ and guitar playing. As the band continued to play hit after hit they did take their time to interact with the audience as they have amazing communication skills towards the audience. As they joked and talked to audience members, that special bond and connection began to form between the band and the audience members. At this point the audience started to get a little rowdy and over excited and things begun to escalate. Phil and the band then asked the audience who was able to play a musical instrument well, the infamous audience member Jimmy took on the challenge and tore up the stage with his impressive guitar solo.

It was then the amazing Kate Ceberano’s turn on stage, as her older brother Phil invited her to join him on stage. As Kate stage presence put the audience into a daze as she sang her throwback hits titled Pash and Bedroom Eyes just to name a few. With Kate’s raspy vocal range, her overall stage presence and the way she sings with such passion it draws the audience in, leaving them in a state of shock. Kate than sang a cover of Roberta Flack smash hit titled The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face leaving the audience especially me emotional and covered head to toe in goosebumps.

It was 9:30pm, it was time for the main man himself Jon Stevens, as soon as Jon walked on stage the atmosphere within The Enmore Theatre was electric. Jon walked on stage and he had the audience wrapped around his finger as he belted out his powerhouse vocals letting the audience know I’m here lets have a great time tonight. His performance went from strength to strength and hit all new highs as he belted out tracks from his new album as he sang tracks titled Starlight and I feel like letting go just to name a few. Jon than took us back to 1988 as he sang tracks from when he was in the punk rock band Noiseworks and INXS. Once he begun to sing the Noiseworks classic Touch, the audience were up on their feet dancing in the aisles of The Enmore Theatre and standing on their chairs arms in the air singing word for word at the top of their lungs (me included).

I’ve been to quite a few concerts and never in my life have I seen a fully seated arena like The Enmore Theatre turn into a makeshift moshpit as the entire audience were up on their feet dancing, jamming out to their favourite tunes. The atmosphere overall was incredible as the audience were having a great time, the ongoing love and support for Australian music was evident within the room and the years of experience performing on stage from Jon , Kate and Phil was clearly evident as they gave an amazing show to everyone present that night.
