LITTLE BOY LOST ‘Warm Against The Cold’ (EP Review)

.

.

London-based trio, Little Boy Lost, produce folk pop goodness. The three-piece of Cochise Derrick (guitar/backing vocals), Alex Palmer (vocals) and Spencer Lovell (guitar/backing vocals) have spent a long time working on their debut EP and now it’s finally here, entitled Warm Against The Cold.

The two track EP speaks of songs that encapsulate life, strong emotions and thoughts. In just two songs worth, Little Boy Lost showcase their sound that someone once described as country soul. There is some country in their sound for sure, just as there is a little indie and even some pop at times.

The first track, the title track in Warm Against The Cold greets the listener with acoustic, atmospheric guitar chords that act as the introduction to warm and textured vocals, that are amplified by the harmonies of the backing vocals intermittently throughout the track. The lyrical content meanwhile is introspective and something of a love song. The secondary track is also a live track – something of a bonus where Little Boy Lost is concerned. The track Silence recorded live at Sepulchre’s Church has slower, gentler acoustic guitar chords. The church setting not only gives the track a haunting quality, but showcases the subtle melody too. At the same time, the lyrical content really makes the listener think and reflect.

The future really is bright for Little Boy Lost. Warm Against The Cold as an EP sounds both polished and professional. The indie music scene in a general sense is thriving with untapped talent and the scene in the UK is not much different, if at all. Its bands like Little Boy Lost that deserve that second and third listen. They have something to say that is worth listening to, time and again.
