2017 Review

Held at the old Horton Park Golf Course and soon to be the new Maroochydore Centre, Maroochydore Music and Visual Art Festival once again gave everything it promised.

From the spacious setting with plenty of shade, great food stalls and of course weather only the Sunshine Coast can provide this is a classic one day festival.

The visual arts was a mixture of ‘street art’ type walls painted in exciting abstract designs to the massive spider constructed in steel and giving out a light show to mesmerize the crowds.

North East Party House got the crowd up and set the mood for the day, giving a hit laden set with a confetti shower to end with. By sunset the crowd had filled and Bernard Fanning took to the stage to tremendous cheers. Bernard is true performer and held the crowd for his entire set, old favourites, new songs, Bernard could do no wrong.

With an amazing sunset Anna of the North entered the stage, immediately her voice captured the crowd. From Norway Anna of the North is an emerging and exciting performer who will hopefully tour in Australia soon.

The Presets made a long awaited return, after nearly three years since playing live, playing only older material this may have disappointed Presets fans who are waiting to hear some new material.

In my view the highlight of the festival was Gang of Youths, who in my humble opinion will be the next big Australian International act. From the moment they took the stage they owned the stage , the audience and all your senses. A powerful beat, great musicians, and a front man in David Le’aupepes who’s voice stays with you.

Overall the Maroochydore Music and visual Arts Festival is a winner.

AMNPLIFY – DB

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.

Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.

Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.

Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
