Miley Cyrus – Malibu (Single Review)

The one and only Ms Miley Cyrus is back with a new release single titled Malibu, as the music songstress’ previous hits include Wrecking Ball, Party In The USA, We Can’t Stop and Adore You, just to name a few. However in regards to Miley’ new release Malibu it is a complete 360 degree turn as it is a confession track, revealing that her country music roots are back for good. Due to a self realisation, as she needed to take a step back and figure out who she was a person and as a result Miley is now back fierce as ever releasing the new single titled Malibu which is a dedication to her Fiancé Liam Hemsworth.

The single release Malibu, is a track about a personal experience of Miley’ as it is about the ending of a relationship but later on getting back together with someone you love after a lengthy time apart from one another. As they decided to take a break and sort out individual differences. With that time apart they were able to grow as a person, make some changes and being given the opportunity to take a step back reflect on who you are as a person and try to fix the current situation. Being able to sort things out with yourself and then being able to go back to the one you love and have a complete fresh start proving that love truly has a gravitational pull. As the track single Malibu, is a a little dedication to Miley’ Fiancé Liam Hemsworth as she is thanking him for his love, patience, his time with her and to second chances.

My initial thoughts about Miley Cyrus’ Malibu is that it is an overall happy and cheerful vibe of the song as there was a prominent use acoustic and electric guitars within the track, especially within the intro of the track. However though with listening to entire track Malibu from start to finish it actually really exceeded my initial expectations as it was really quite evident that the old Miley Cyrus is back, as her current music is with a more happy and cheerful tone as she is going back to her country music roots. With Miley Cyrus releasing Malibu she is truly proving her diversity as an artist, as you can’t keep her in a box as she has produced and released music within the genres of Pop, RNB and Country. Through out Malibu, Miley’ voice has more of a husky undertone sound in this song as in comparison to her hard hitting tracks like Wrecking Ball and Adore You as they were hard hitting power ballads.

Miley Cyrus’ new release single Malibu is a little dedication track to Liam Hemsworth, as it is a thank you and peace offering to him. As Malibu is a confession track highlighting what had happened during the break up and the aftermath of the break up. As it is the case of some things were built to fall apart , and then fall back together. Malibu touches base on the themes of identity, change, heartache, relationships, time and as time being apart from the one you love has been a great outcome as they were able to sort out individual issues and now are able to come back together and start the relationship again with a fresh start.

Overall as a whole, Miley Cyrus’ new release single titled Malibu, is definitely a change of pace for Miley but the none the less Malibu is a great track the tune is actually quite refreshing as it channels summer vibes and radiates a positive energy. I think for Miley Malibu is a great come back track for her to release. As Malibu tackles themes of change, identity and second chances. As Malibu explores Miley’ original country music roots and proves that it is here to stay. As Malibu is more of an upbeat track in comparison to Wrecking Ball and Adore You. But none the less Malibu is a portrayal of Miley’ reinvented identity, proving to her fans and listeners that she has changed and that the Happy Hippie country girl is back and is here to stay.
