M∆∆T is the debut album by Sydney based Italian Electro mastermind, Ribongia. Following numerous single releases and two EP launches, including 2014’s It Began and 2016’s Escapism, the long-awaiting debut album M∆∆T was released March 16th via October Records. The 12-track album features hits like the 2017 double A-Side Before The Winter ft. Jannah Beth and YoungstaCPT and Sonder, Golden ft. Owen Rabbit, Shakti and the current single King Kong ft. Hvncog and Jannah Beth.

To sum it up in a few words, M∆∆T is wonderfully perplexing and mysterious on many levels. Unless you have experienced Ribongia’s music before or even experienced his current singles from M∆∆T, you will be pleasantly surprised that with every verse and every chorus you receive something entirely different of what you musically envisioned, something innovative and incredibly left of field – whether it be catchy, worldly electro loops, experimentation of percussion in the instrumental foundation or the use of looped voices to artistically create another intricate, detailed layer to the melody. Each track stands on its own but blends with one another to create a musical masterpiece, a musical journey that is M∆∆T.

I have never been so intrigued about a piece of music like I have with Ribongia’s M∆∆T. No one track is the exact same – Pilgrimage is fully drenched in earthy, tribal fused tones, while King Kong is a downtown ghetto electro-rap hit. Shakti is a very limited piece vocal wise, but a purely heightened, upbeat electro-dance instrumental, while Dreams slows the pace down a little, bringing a relaxed, chilled out vibe to the album despite the many dynamic synth loops. Experimentation and fusion of Electro with other genres like RnB and rap seem to be Ribongia’s niche. We experience this in Coming Undone where Ribongia effortlessly fuses Electro with RnB tones, highlighting the soothing urban vocals of ELSZ. The album is truly influenced by Ribongia’s continued travel but with a real deep connection to the native, tribal sounds of the jungles across the globe.
