RIN is on the rise.
Juice Magazine voted his breakthrough Bianco with Yung Hurn as 2016 single of the year. 1 Live Krone granted his debut album EROS, featuring hits like Bros, Monica Belluci, and Blackout as 2017 Best Album.
RIN hasn’t failed to deliver bigger and better things, earning his presence across the music charts in Germany.
That’s right. Meet German Rapper RIN, as he is introduced to the rest of the world. A breath of fresh air in rap/hip-hop, remodelled from the bare elements. Supreme and H&M clothed, cigarette smoking and occasionally sporting glasses, RIN’s distinct aesthetic states his distance from the root of his inspiration.
His sound holds up no differently. RIN’s first track of 2018 starts on a sentimental note with Data Love.
The hard energy of the trap-inspired rap that characterised his earlier career is sidelined for a gentle R&B with no cost to the quality of his music.
The entire track is carried by solemn yet soothing synthetic keyboard. These reverberant, melodic tones lull you into the intimate feel brought to discussion by the track. The hip-hop style drums add a necessary sense of liveliness which supplement the track without stealing the focus.
RIN really demonstrates his ability to be various and performs smooth vocals just as well as hard sixteens. The raw emotions of reminiscence and pleading care are simply heard, beyond the language it is spoken in. It is a vivid example of the power of the human voice.
There is a depth to this track that is not lost in translation. Accompanied by a beautifully drawn music video, the visuals add a dimension of emotions which is bountiful to interpret. If you’re into international music – this is an essential.
This song – this experience – sounds like an emotion of its own, a personal anthem in its own right. Recently hitting 1 million views on YouTube and growing, we can only continue to expect more from RIN and his future endeavours in 2018.
