With the release of debut album ‘Idiot Proverbs’ on the 12th of January 2018, Melbourne quartet Tiny Little Houses have delivered once again.

Taking inspiration from nineties grunge rock, ‘Idiot Proverbs’ showcases the band’s creative development, starting 2018 off with a bang. The notable voice of lead singer Caleb Karvountzis adds an honest and raw vibe to the band’s electric riffs and solid bass lines.
‘Garbage Bin’  introduces a relatable heavy feel that echoes throughout all tracks, coupled with the distorted clangour of riffs, flying through second track ‘Entitled Generation’. Lyrically, ‘Entitled Generation’ emulates a familiar societal drag, a modern anthem of sorts, talking of political and social derangement, successfully capturing what we’re all thinking.

Third track ‘Short Hair’ is definitely one I can see being a crowd favourite. The song bribes the listener with a punchy drum beat and identifiable and sincere lyrics, drawing in an air of excitement.

The fourth tune on the album, ‘Team Player’ pushes a strong impact lyrically, with Karvountzis self-describing as;

“just another cynical pseudo-intellectual”.

This sharp line offers an adept finish onto such a strong-willed and balanced song.

Further into the album, ‘Caroline’ begins simply with the appealing whine of Karvountzis’ voice and the gentle strum of guitar, which then bursts into a familiar and catchy tune: a song guaranteed to make newcomers wish they’d heard the band before.

Final track ‘Drag Me’ caps off the record, solidifying the fact that Tiny Little Houses have can write an album that will take this year by storm. Idiot Proverbs is a record that works fantastically simply because it is not taken too seriously, an artistic development from previous songs.
