TWILIGHT AT TARONGA 2018 Lineup Revealed with Performance by KATE MILLER-HEIDKE
Twilight At Taronga is Sydney’s ultimate concert series, showcasing an incredible range of live Australian artists every year. The event is held on the lawns of Sydney’s Taronga Zoo, with spectacular views of the Sydney Harbour skyline at sunset. The Twilight at Taronga 2018 Summer Concert Series begins on Friday February 2 and runs until Saturday March 17, a summer highlight and a must see for all Sydney goers.
“You’re not just having a great night out, you’re supporting a great cause.”
– Liddy Hodgson
All proceeds from Twilight at Taronga go back into the zoo’s ongoing conservation work. You can lend further support by downloading the free Wildlife Witness smartphone app to help stop illegal wildlife trade – one of the biggest threats to the survival of many species including tigers, elephants, rhinos, sun bears and pangolins.
The 2018 lineup features an incredibly diverse range of artists, with shows for people of all ages to enjoy.
“There are so many things I love about the concert series. The lineup is one I’m really excited about this year. The mix of different artists and the fact that across the five weeks there’s room for difference in the series. We have some of those really unique concerts like the RocKwiz, the Electric Lady presents, some of that Sydney centric stuff. There’s some real flavor Andy Kelly (curator) has brought to the lineup. But also seeing we are still continuing our relationship with people like Bjorn Again who are a staple of the concert series. You’ve not seen anything until you’ve seen 2000 people dancing in the rain to ABBA!” – Liddy Hodgson
Andy Kelly, the curator of the lineup discussed his focus on ensuring a mix of staple artists (Bjorn Again and James Morrison) as well as many new faces.
“We were keen right from the start to have a couple of nights that were curated by Holly (Jack River) – Electric Lady and Future Classic…I think its really important to have that sort of variety at an event like this, and the opportunity to expand beyond the initial audience. I’m pretty excited about the contemporary side, with Future Classic presents and Electric Lady presents, and also acts like The Jezebels, Cloud Control and Julia James…. I’m excited for us to be putting in acts that are about to reach that next level.”
The media launch was held aboard a ferry in Sydney harbour, to announce the lineup and show dates. At the launch, we were treated to a spectacular live performance by one of the headlining artists, Kate Miller-Heidke. She performed an acoustic version of The Tiger Inside will Eat the Child and Oh, Vertigo!. Kate’s incredible vocals stunned everyone on board, sending shivers up spines. Her style of classically trained vocals fused with alternate rock was a pleasure to watch, “making us feel happy right to our core.” We also previewed the delicious gourmet hamper curated by Epicure and Belvedere while enjoying the views of Sydney harbour.
Twilight At Taronga 2018 Summer Concert series is a must see summer event – Tickets are on sale from 9am on Tuesday October 17 from twilightattaronga.org.au.
“The glorious backdrop of the city at sunset framed the surprisingly intimate venue that was Taronga Zoo’s concert lawn…” The Brag
“…there are few finer Sydney experiences than the annual Twilight concert series at the zoo: a balmy sunset over the harbour, a ‘hello’ to the tree kangaroos and pelicans as you stroll to a place on the grass…” The Music
