In close quarters provides a unique perspective towards the risen talent, the phoenix songbird, Vera Blue AKA Celia Pavey.

Since stealing the attention of viewers on The Voice 2013, she spent time overseas working with various electro artists to build her iconic folk electro sound.

Having worked with names such as Illy, Slumberjack, and being good friends with electronic dominant Flume (Harley Streten), the Vera Blue project has been welcomed by the masses. Now, her debut album Perennial has proven her singer-songwriter ability.

For those who cling to the old ways of music consumption, record stores and CDs are a collector’s dream. For Vera Blue, it is rather special for her because, as she put it, “It means a lot to me to come back and play somewhere where I used to hang out and buy music.” A live and intimate show and signing for her fans who can’t make it to her flaming-hair-whipping electro extravaganza is a different atmosphere completely.

Acting as if she is old friends with every member of the audience, she doesn’t shy away from her lyrics and looks her crowd in the eye as her platinum pipes do the work for her.

Of the five songs Blue sang, she spoke most proudly of Lady Powers, the seventh song on her album. Stating it was written in a place in her life when she felt disrespected, she found “real strength and purpose, and I hadn’t felt that in a long time.” As she lives her album’s undertone of breakup and heartbreak, we can see her shedding her feathers to come anew.

Whether it’s up close and personal with just an acoustic guitar, or on the stage comfortably pumping the MIDI board, Vera Blue wears her emotions on her sleeve and is sure-fire galvanizing them with a pure truth and sweet-sounding melodies.
