ZEDD .ft Alessia Cara – Stay (Single Review)

Russian born German record producer, DJ and musician Zedd has taken over the EDM scene as of late as he has produced consecutive smash hits like Clarity, Stay The Night, I Want You To Know and thats just to name a few. Zedd has collaborated with big names with in the music industry like Selena Gomez, Hayley Williams, Foxes and now Alessia Cara with another new release smash hit single titled Stay. Alessia Cara has just recently exploded onto the music scene releasing the lyrically beautiful and honest tracks like Scars To Your Beautiful and the Disney soundtrack for Moana titled How Far I’ll Go. With Zedd’ new collaboration with Alessia Cara with Stay the track is an upbeat power track that is full of emotion, with Zedd’ genius sound layering the track is straight up fire.

The track titled Stay is about two lovers pleading for one another to stay instead of walking away from their relationship when things get hard. Initially when I first started listening to the track just by the intro of the song with the layering of various undertones and the humbling I knew straight away that this track was going to be an amazing one. With the
introduction of Alessia’ sharp and powerful voice really sets the emotional and chaotic mood of the song. As the chorus plays the lyrics of the chorus are somewhat haunting as Alessia is really pleading for him to stay as the chorus reads as the following:

“All you have to do is stay a minute
Just take your time
The clock is ticking, so stay
All you have to do is wait a second
Your hands on mine
The clock is ticking, so stay”

After the chorus has been sung Zedd finally drops the base leaving an ache in the listeners chest as they are left with the pleading and the cry for help from Alessia for her other half to just simply stay.

Overall for me Zedd .ft Alessia Cara – Stay is one of my favourite tracks of 2017 as of yet, ever since the track has been released it has been on repeat on my IPhone and I listen to it about 40 times a day, so you could probably say that I am a little obsessed with the track. It’s an emotional song lyrically but sound and audio wise it’s really quite catchy and the type of song that you play on full blast, screaming out the lyrics whilst you’re driving.
