Ruby Boots releases her second full length album Don’t Talk About It today following its US premiere on Noisey. Lead singles ‘It’s So Cruel‘ and ‘Don’t Talk About It’ received Spotify ‘New Music Friday’ Australian playlisting and ‘Its So Cruel’ featured in Apple Music ‘Best of The Week’ list. The singles have gained much airplay worldwide, resulting in her album being the third most added to US Americana Radio in its first week, including spins on renowned stations KEXP and WXPN.

Rolling Stone USA listed the album in their 2018 Music Preview of 30 Most Anticipated Albums and Tours.

.

Rolling Stone Australia described the album as “upping the rock factor and breaking out of the Americana mould.”

AXS Los Angeles write: “it is refreshing to hear a strong female vocalist fronting a rock band. Boots delivers vocals that hold your attention whether she’s singing a real rocker or a ballad”.

The Music in their 4.5 star review described it as ranging “from tender and vulnerable to fierce and unapologetically assertive, deserving every accolade it is sure to receive. To be listened to often and repeatedly.”

Stack Magazine says “Indeed, Don’t Talk About It is a fine second album; swaggeringly assured, it oozes confidence and class”.

.

The album – her first for Island Records Australia – unfurls like a mystical sonic map that covers diverse musical, geographical and emotional terrain. Ruby’s arresting voice tells tales of defiance and resilience, delivered with the wisdom of a drifter who’s seen more in her years than many witness in a lifetime. Early childhood touchstones such as Nirvana, Janis Joplin and Bob Dylan shimmer to the surface and there are nods to the great rock songbooks of Tom Petty and T Rex, but Ruby sits in a different, more contemporary space, spiritually closer to wise women such as Angel Olsen and PJ Harvey.

Following her record release party at The Hideout in Chicago this week, Ruby will perform across the US from Feb to June including a coveted spot at South By Southwest in Texas. She’ll swing by Australia with select shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth in May.
