Today, singer-songwriter and member of The SuperjesusSarah McLeod releases ROCKY’S DINER marking her first solo project in twelve years. The long-awaited album is the culmination of a radical change of creative gears for McLeod, released via Kobalt, and available to purchase/stream here.

As its title would suggest, ROCKY’S DINER is inspired by Sylvester Stallone’s slugfest ‘Rocky’ franchise, as well as the streets of Brooklyn where she resided during a three-month studio getaway to New York City. McLeod left with a batch of “very elaborate demos” in hand, and later took the production seat, starting at Sydney’s 301 and Pow Wow Studios, with Steve Balbi as executive producer. Then one last stint at A Sharp Studios with long time collaborator and friend Mick Skelton.

“This album has reinvented my brain. I wanted to be completely by myself and write the record in its entirety from start to finish in one creative whirlwind. It was my biggest musical challenge to-date” – Sarah McLeod

The album already has rave reviews, with The Music commenting that “it’s nice to hear McLeod allow some vulnerability to soften her normally heady vocals, gently crooning in Rocky’s Reprise, dishing out sultry pouts in ‘Bad Valentine’, and gunning it in ‘Hurricane’.”

ROCKY’S DINER also received an impressive rating from HEAVY Mag, describing it as “feel-good“, continuing on to say “It’s not only a celebration of McLeod’s songwriting skills but is also the kind of album that you could put on when you are down in the dumps and instantly feel better, and even inspired…It is a song writing masterpiece that is a must have album for lovers of Aussie Rock. 4/5″

Barely slowing down over recent years, McLeod has also seen success in several avenues throughout her career. She had surprise club hits over the years with songs “He Doesn’t Love You” and “Hurricane”, the latter receiving a Euro-house remix by Dzeko and Torres. In 2016, she toured with The Baby Animals for their ‘She Who Rocks Tour’ and earlier this year saw herself inducted into the South Australian Music Hall of Fame in Adelaide with the rest of her band, The Superjesus.

McLeod continues this exciting and life-changing solo journey of ROCKY’S DINER with multiple shows around the country.
