Melbourne Recital Centre by arrangement with Bluesfest Touring are delighted to announce two stunning concerts with one of Brazil’s most celebrated singers and actors Seu Jorge who will perform David Bowie’s legendary catalogue in Elisabeth Murdoch Hall on 28 and 29 March 2018.
Commemorating the passing of David Bowie some two years ago, Brazilian musician Seu Jorge brings his tribute show to the late genius to Australia, while also recreating the set to his role in Wes Anderson’s 2004 film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Having risen to fame from his role as Pelé dos Santos, a singing sailor who reinterpreted a number of Bowie’s biggest hits performed in Portuguese, Seu pays tribute to the late musical genius with gorgeous acoustic interpretations of ‘Rebel, Rebel,’ ‘Life on Mars,’ ‘Starman’ and more.

Seu Jorge’s recording The Life Aquatic Sessions was given a stunning four stars by The Guardian (U.K.) upon its release in 2006, prophesising its realisation as, ‘a gently charming set that could become a cult success.’ Little did they realise the lasting impact Seu Jorge’s gentle interpretations could prove to hold, subtly underscoring the breadth and depth of David Bowie’s compositions. Following sold out performances across North and South America and Europe, Australian audiences will have the chance to don a red beanie, relive the film and hear renditions of a creative icon by one of Brazil’s most uniquely talented performers.
