Sydney based singer songwriter Ollie Brown has been honing his song writing and quietly playing live shows, all the while gearing up to release his new EP Backroads which is scheduled for October 8th.
Of the song writing process for this EP, Brown has said “I needed to capture what was going on in my head so I left Sydney with a car full of instruments and recording gear and drove to a friend’s cabin on the Mid-North Coast. I spent a week there by the river, exploring and finding different ways to record what I was spitting out. I got very lost in the songs and the whole recording process and I think it brought out a certain kind of honesty that you can hear in the music.”
“I was caught in this dark cloud of confusion, trying not to lose myself during the writing and recording process. It felt like I was stuck in this strange place where everything in my life that seemed fine had suddenly shifted. My career wasn’t really moving forward and the relationship I was in felt like it was slowly slipping away. I was so caught inside my head and it was changing me.”
“For me, ‘Backroads’ is about the fear of losing yourself. I’ve never felt more involved and attached to my own work. This EP is one hundred percent me. It’s the first time that I’ve engineered, produced and played everything with a little help from some special friends. ‘Backroads’ is free-spoken and partly stream of consciousness. It is the most open and honest I have ever been and my songs will always be that way.”

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
