When enigmatic Sydney three-piece Hollow States released their first single, DAMAGE I’VE DONE, they were met with unexpected praise for their elegant simplicity and strange melancholy. The song grabbed the attention of triple j’s Dom Alessio, who premiered the film clip on the Home and Hosed blog. Damage I’ve Done picked up spins on triple j & was added to triple j’s unearthed + featured on RAGE. Hollow States backed all this up with a regional tour and home town gig playing to a capacity crowd at the Oxford Art Factory. They followed this up with the release of Go and Be and a support for OLYMPIA on her Different Cities tour.
Hollow States’ latest EP WHEN OUR TIME HAS GONE displays their brand of sophisticated indie pop; marrying lyrical depth with melodic flair to create memorable, euphoric anthems. From the outset, vocalist Hasting’s captivating delivery is underpinned by the propulsive urgency of the music. The exhilaration is peppered with hints of melancholy and the result is a bold and assured EP from the Sydney trio.

The band – comprised of singer Huck Hastings, guitarist Joel Woolf and keyboardist Hayden Woolf – craft songs that are both heartfelt and intelligent; equal parts haunting and jangly. Unmistakable within this sound is the emotive voice of Huck Hastings.
Openly embracing of their hometown music scene, Hollow States are at the beautiful part of a band’s life where their early releases have touched upon something instantly relatable; that is, their initial success wasn’t a fluke… there is something special to this band. As they move forward, with this in mind, it will be exciting to see the ever-unfolding landscape that Hollow States sculpt with their music.

“…the album is an excellent display of diverse musical talent from another set of impressive Aussie musicians.” – Ellen Morgan, Rip It Up about “Darkness is Laughing”

AMNPLIFY – DB

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
