One of Australia’s favourite radio personalities, former Triple J ‘Home & Hosed’ host, Dom Alessio is today announced to MC the 2018 Gold Coast Music Awards, taking place on the Surfers Paradise beachfront, Thursday, May 3.

“There’s been some fantastic music coming out of the Gold Coast the past few years,” said Sydney-based Alessio, who has spent the past eight years presenting the best brand new Australian music on the country’s largest youth radio network.

“It feels like a really exciting time for the City’s music scene and I’m honoured to have been asked to host the awards this year. I can’t wait to be there to celebrate Gold Coast music.”

Gold Coast Music Awards director, Samantha Morris said, “2018 is the perfect year to bring a much loved and respected industry personality on board to host the event. If there is anyone that knows Australian music, it’s Dom Alessio.

“From his work on Triple J to his new role with peak music export body Sounds Australia, we are excited for what he’ll bring to the night; and to show him what Gold Coast music is all about!”

2018 Gold Coast Music Awards

Live Lineup

.

Multi award-winning artist, Bobby Alu will headline the 2018 Gold Coast Music Awards’ free live music concert. As one of Australia’s top drummers performing around the world for the past 6 years most recently for Xavier Rudd, it was a swift progression stepping out from behind the drumkit to take the mic. Whether it’s with just him and the baritone ukulele or backed by a slick charismatic band Bobby is known for his signature smooth hammock music & high vibes, making them an Australian festival favourite.

.

Award-winning Gold Coast duo, Hussy Hicks bring their fearlessly independent, genre-defying music to the 2018 Gold Coast Music Awards fresh from sharing their good vibes across festival stages and venues throughout Europe, America and Australia.

.

Since their debut in December 2010, Electrik Lemonade’s live performances have rapidly grown as they play to crowds at premiere live music venues & festivals up and down the East Coast. These Gold Coast funklords are set to play 2018 Gold Coast Music Awards free live concert.

.

Acclaimed indie rock band Eliza & The Delusionals are one of the most exciting groups breaking out of the Australian music scene. Led by colourful front woman Eliza Klatt, they have been making waves since their inception in early 2015, with a sound that has been likened to that of Catfish & The Bottlemen and Alex Lahey.
