Pump up your sneakers, put on your flanno and dial up The 90s on Double J, as we take a look at an iconic decade and ask, was this the greatest decade in music? Throughout June we’ll bring you 90s music from Thursday to Sunday nights, curated 90s countdowns, special online features, dedicated 90s J Files, Classic Albums and Live At The Wireless’, and a very special 90s themed Artist in Residence by Spiderbait frontman, KRAM.
To kick off our month-long celebration of the ’90s we looked to our own shores, giving a nod to all the incredible Australian music from that decade. It won’t surprise you to hear that coming up with this list was tough. And while you won’t necessarily agree with all our choices, we believe every song played a massive part in making Australian music such a force through the 1990s. So here are the 50 Best Australian Songs of the 90s, topped by none other than You Am I’s ‘Berlin Chair’.

You can relive the tunes you grew up with on Double J Weekends, as we play nothing but 90s from 9pm Thursday to Midnight Sunday. That’s your favourite 90s tunes all day FRIDAY and ALL WEEKEND!
Live and breathe the 90s? Myf Warhurst will be doing a 90s Quiz each Friday on Lunch, so you can test your 90s trivia chops alongside a heap of special guests, 11am Fridays.
You’ll also hear seminal 90s Live at the Wireless on Double J sets from Yothu Yindi, Jeff Buckley, The Breeders, Fat Boy Slim and The Cruel Sea, 3pm Tuesdays in June.
Plus of course Caz Tran has your Classic Albums covered with songs and analysis of your fave 90s long players, including Radiohead OK Computer, A Tribe Called Quest Low End Theory, Bjork Post, Portishead Dummy and Regurgitator Unit, 3pmMondays in June.
