JOE MUNGOVAN
RELEASES NEW SINGLE
“STEPPIN OUTTA LINE”
+ UNVEILS FIERY MUSIC VIDEO
ANNOUNCES CO-HEADLINE TOUR WITH GRETA STANLEY
.
Written in Mungovan’s home town, the track was recorded between Kiama and One Flight Up’s Sydney studio with the help of producer Tim Carr (Matt Corby, Urthboy), giving us a taste of the introspective indie folk music that will create his EP to be released later in the year.
“Steppin Outta Line” articulates lyrics revolving around continuing to do whatever you want without letting others get in the way. With a catchy melody and rhythmic detail, Joe expresses his genuine emotion. triple j Unearthed’s Dave Ruby Howe comments,
“This guy’s got a serious work ethic, just writing and touring non-stop. Great new song from him too – that chorus is a beaut. Fans of Kim Churchill, Sticky Fingers should find something pleasing in this tune.“

Directed and edited by Estrallas, Mungovan also unveils a lively, passionate music video along with the release of the track.

After crashing his skateboard at the age of 13, leaving him unable to play his drum kit and in a wheelchair for four months, Mungovan taught himself guitar and unconsciously developed a unique style that blends indie folk and pop together.

Influenced by artists including James Blake and Justin Vernon, Mungovan’s sophomore EP WAY DOWN SOUTH achieved great success, debuting at #2 on the iTunes singer-songwriter charts. The first single “My Jumper” also received airplay on triple j and was added to rotation on the Unearthed station.
Having previously shared the stage with acts such as The Preatures, Cosmo Jarvis (US), Ian Moss (Cold Chisel), Lime Cordiale and Winterbourne, you can see Joe Mungovan live when he hits the road on a co-headline tour with Greta Stanley this September/October.
