Cocktail keep-cups at the ready! 42BELOW, the vodka equivalent of Mother Theresa, has always kept their vodka pure to keep this wonderful planet at its purest. Continuing this tradition, in the ‘spirit’ of “Partying for the Planet”, the Kiwi vodka brand is launching their very own pop-up Waste-Free Weekender, a collaborative series of sustainable soiree’s for the conscious drinker from Thursday, September 12 – Saturday, September 14 in Sydney.

For one weekend only, 42BELOW will be joining forces with Australia’s most acclaimed ethical cocktail bar Maybe Mae to create a cocktail collection aimed to raise awareness of food waste and mindful drinking while still keeping the party vibes alive with local DJ favourites spinning the decks throughout the weekend. Taking over the top floor of Darlinghurst’s speakeasy bar This Must Be The Place, the Waste-Free Weekender will become the ultimate hangout spot to meet friends, experiment on savvy cocktails and party into the late evening in the form of a paint & piss(take) class and a climactic trash bash to cap off the weekend on a high. 42BELOW will also be partnering with farm to table concept organic restaurant, Acre Eatery, to curate a waste-free brunch where guests will be able to enjoy an afternoon of exceptional and innovative dishes with minimal waste and ethically sourced ingredients.

Diving into the weekender with a cheeky twist on the traditional paint & sip, 42BELOW presents Paint & Piss(take), taking over the venue on Thursday, September 12 & Friday, September 13. The sessions will be conducted by Instagram hero and cartoon commentator, Struthless. Known for his quick wit and brash personality, loved by fans across the country, paint-punters can prepare for an evening of unapologetic lessons in illustrating with an environmentally-friendly drink in hand, courtesy of Maybe Mae’s Ollie Margan & team.

If you thought the bio-friendly bashes would stop there, think again. 42BELOW will next host a wholesome Wasteless Brunch with Acre Eatery on Saturday, September 14. Prized for their hyperlocality ethos, Acre Eatery focus their menus around transparency, seasonality & traceability – great news for our planet. Supporting local farmers and producers, expect organic, fresh food, without compromising on quality.

Throughout the three-day weekender, nights at This Must Be The Place will be transformed into a  sustainable eutopia boasting a string of DJs not to disappoint. With the likes of Australian dance music royalty Paul Mac, king tastemaker KATO, Gold Coast natives Bleeding Knees Club (DJ set) and prolific Sydney name Ariane on the decks backed by a feast of hand-picked local selectors, dance yourself carbon neutral while they dig into their crates to play recycled and second-hand guilty pleasure records, sourced from Sydney’s finest thrift stores. As part of the annual Sydney Bar Week, a special edition Trash Bash will take place on Saturday evening, where bartenders and guests will once again get trash-free and party for the planet.

Adding to the Waste-Free Weekend will be a collection of eco bevs made using recyclable ingredients from local restaurants. From extravagant tipples like the Coastal Cruiser to the refreshingly wholesome Beets by Mae and more, the specially created cocktails by the team at Maybe Mae will celebrate hyperlocality, nose-to-tail drinking and demonstrate savvy preservation techniques. Only available at 42BELOW’s Waste-Free Weekender, Maybe Mae’s cocktails will be sure to turn heads and make your signature serve is just a bit sweeter on the lips – no room for guilt on your shoulders.

Get ready for a weekend of pure sustainable bliss with drinks, food and play with the planet in mind. Be sure to join the party this September.
