Set to release their second EP Elm Way on April 21, Mid Ayr has revealed the video for their latest single Pocket Her Eyes. Directed by Thomas Calder of Tinker Films (The Trouble With Templeton) the frenetic showpiece is a non-linear visual of night time madness, uncovering the darkness within. The video comes ahead of Mid Ayr’s first east coast tour this April and May, and follows on from their acclaimed 2016 self-titled debut EP which featured Letting You In, the #1 most played Australian track at triple j.
The Brisbane two-piece comprised of Hugh Middleton (Guitar/Vocals) and Zac Moynihan (Drums) master the art of gritty production, heavy-driving drums, dissonant guitar bends and grainy synth. Pocket Her Eyes sees main songwriter Hugh Middleton making “an observational commentary on society turning sexual pursuits into a contest.”
Recorded in Luv Basement, their inner-city underground studio, the new recordings once again feature Alex L’Estrange on co-production duties with Hugh and Zac, Elm Way touches on love, loss and the pressures of social acceptance.
2016 was a watershed year for Mid Ayr with the success of Letting You In which continued when Vampires, the second single from their debut EP was handpicked by Unearthed and NIDA as the winner of their national music video competition. Mid Ayr also toured as special guests for Olympia, showcased at BIGSOUND and performed at boutique festivals Jungle Love and End of the Line.
