One of the most reflective rappers of today, LUPE FIASCO returns to Australia and New Zealand to perform in full his now Modern Classic debut album ‘Food & Liquor’.
LUPE FIASCO reinvigorated hip hop with the release of his highly anticipated debut album, 2006’s Food & Liquor. Creative, imaginative and void of all hip-hop clichés, the album waxed poetic on personal and political plights, paving the path for a socially conscious superstar to emerge. The album’s notable tracks were aimed at righting the wrongs of society’s ills, such as “American Terrorist,” which denounces America’s association with terrorism, “Daydreamin” which tackles the genre’s preoccupation with materialism and misogyny, and the lead single “Kick Push” which synced the seemingly unconnected worlds of hip hop and skateboarding.
Amidst sparking a brand of alternative hip-hop and becoming the most compelling rap album of 2006, LUPE FIASCO’S Food & Liquor peaked at No 1 on the Billboard Top 10 and received three nominations for the Grammy Awards including Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Solo Performance.
