Singles Chartifacts: 

#1: Ed Sheeran ‘Perfect’ – For the fifth week in a row, Ed Sheeran tops the ARIA Singles Chart with ‘Perfect’. The track was #4 on the 2017 ARIA End Of Year Singles Chart and was one of four by the British singer-songwriter to feature in the top ten. 2017 End Of Year #1 ‘Shape Of You’ has jumped up ten spots this week to #19.

#13: Pnau ‘Go Bang’ – Sydney trio Pnau were the highest placed Australian act on the 2017 End Of Year Singles Chart with ‘Chameleon’ (#4 Feb. ’17). Follow-up single ‘Go Bang’ jumps six spots this week to claim a new peak at #13.

#34: Keala Settle & The Greatest Showman Ensemble ‘This Is Me’ (debut) – The week’s highest debut comes from a track from this week’s #1 album, the soundtrack to The Greatest Showman. ‘This Is Me’ features Keala Settle, who portrays bearded lady Lettie Lutz, in the film. Settle made her Broadway debut in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert in 2011 and has since appeared in productions of Les Misérables and Waitress.

Albums Chartifacts:

#1: Soundtrack ‘The Greatest Showman’ – In its second week in the top 50, the soundtrack to the Hugh Jackman-starring The Greatest Showman climbs seven spots to hit #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. It’s the first soundtrack to top the chart since Fifty Shades Darker (#1 Feb. ’17).

#6: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard ‘Gumboot Soup’ (debut) – Melbourne’s King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard take out their fourth top ten entry on the ARIA Albums Chart with Gumboot Soup. The seven piece’s 13th studio album was their fifth release in 2017, coming out on 31 December. 2017 saw the band also release the albums Flying Microtonal Banana (#2 Mar. ’17), Murder Of The Universe (#3 Jul. ’17), Sketches Of Brunswick East (#4 Aug. ’17) and the free release Polygondwanaland.

#7: Soundtrack ‘Pitch Perfect 3’ – Moving up 29 spots in its third week in the top 50, the soundtrack to Pitch Perfect 3 becomes the film franchise’s third top ten. It follows on from Pitch Perfect (#9 Jan. ’13) and Pitch Perfect 2 (#3 May ’15).
