The 6th annual Party in the Paddock festival has already become legend, declared the most special PITP yet!

There was some kind of magic in the air at White Hills from February 8 to 10, with #PITP2018 bringing over 100 acts and 7000 happy music lovers to the golden hills of Northern Tasmania.

For the first time, PITP opened on Thursday and thousands of punters grabbed the opportunity to set up camp early and take in a stacked lineup of artists in the Vibestown arena including Aussie hip hop artist Baker Boy who had THE ENTIRE crowd jumping to his Hottest 100 hit ‘Marryuna’.

PITP’s notorious Vibestown was also much bigger this year and played host to some of the best emerging bands in Australia and seriously hilarious comedians including the mighty Aunty Donna. VT also featured a skate ramp, adult jumping castle, mechanical bull, markets, bars, food stalls and more eco glitter than you can possibly imagine.

On Friday PITP 2018 really kicked in with the whole festival open. Awesome afternoon sets by Emma Anglesey and Pow! Negro lead the way for some of Australia’s biggest touring acts with Tired Lion, Tkay Maidza, Gang Of Youths and Client Liaison all delivering killer sets.

Saturday started out hot and steamy but by the time The Preatures took to the stage the rain had started to fall. PITP’s first ever storm unfortunately cut Meg Mac’s set short but then gifted the Paddock with a stunningly beautiful double rainbow right over the stage and the mountain backdrop, the rainbow appearing as some kind of manifestation of this years much celebrated poster design. The rain was embraced and for the first time PITP became a tropical wonderland.

Ball Park Music picked up as the afternoon sunset broke through the clouds and a magic night ensued including stand out sets by Kirin J Callinan, The Avalanches and Thundamentals.

For the first time the PITP lineup included an international headlining act with US supergroup Grouplove filling the Paddock on Saturday evening before they declared PITP “the best festival in the world”. True story!

PITP founder and creative director Jesse Higgs said, “We are really proud of everyone’s involvement this year. We worked hard with upping our environmental initiatives and in our endeavour to create a safe space. We want to thank the PITP community for hearing the messages, keeping the Paddocks clean and looking out for one another.”

Big love and thanks to triple j and our other partners and all the people who helped to make PITP 2018 so fine.

See you next year!
